Service helps youths find work

Teens and young adults seeking part-time or full-time summer or year-round employment can call (805) 522-4473 to schedule an appointment with the Simi Valley Youth Employment Service (YES).

This free program helps youths ages 16 to 22 with their job search including interview skills, resume writing, workplace professionalism and referrals to available jobs.

The City of Simi Valley provides the Youth Employment Service at no cost to assist youths in finding employment, as well as to assist employers in reaching the youth candidates they want to hire.

Employers may post job openings at www.simivalley.org/YESJobPosting.

Employers will be asked to provide details on the position, such as job duties, hiring requirements and candidate referral instructions.

Job leads will be shared with YES clients until the employer closes the job posting.

Job center to host career workshop

East County America’s Job Center will hold a career workshop from 8:30 a.m. to noon Tues., July 25 at the center, 2900 N. Madera Road, Simi Valley.

The workshop is titled “The Power of CalJOBS.”

CalJOBS is an online resource that can be used to navigate California’s workforce services providing employment and labor market information.

The newly enhanced system allows users to easily search for jobs, build resumes, access career resources, and find information on education and training programs.

Career Shops are offered at no cost to job seekers.

Prior registration is required by calling the East County America’s Job Center at (805) 955-2282.

Before enrolling, participants must first sign up with CalJOBS at www.caljobs.ca.gov.
